Bay High Class of 1973 35th Reunion

OUR 35th BAY HIGH SCHOOL
CLASS OF 1973 REUNION!

It will be the best reunion ever! Why, you wonder:

1) The committee has been able to reach about 300 out of 360 classmates through:
    * Bay High Alumni Association records and previous 30th reunion records
    * Our Class of '73 Web site and lots of searching, calling and mailing
    * Oprah's Big Give gift recipient list

2) Nirvana (remember these talented fellows?) is pulling their electric guitars and bongos
out of hibernation, and will be performing live! (more on that deal below)

3) We are taking a different approach for this reunion. The theme is "informal and anything goes." In other words...inappropriate behavior will be admired. Vegas has nothing over our reunion: "What Happens in Bay, Stays in Bay."

Here's the tentative game plan (subject to minor changes as
we continue to fumble and make stuff up as we go along)

Friday, September 19th - BAY HIGH ROCKETS HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME

* 4:30 - 7:00 PM - Pre-game at Margaux Quayle Hamilton's casa. Margaux resides at 29801 West Oakland Road in Bay (right off Bassett Road.) In keeping with our theme, here's how it works. Bring your own dinner over (grab a Subway, whatever works) and
any "adult" beverage you want. Margaux will provide the paper/plastic set-ups along
with ice, sodas, water, snackies, croquet and even music piped through the City
of Bay Village's antiquated air raid siren system. Cost: a whopping $5 per person.

* 7:00 PM - Road trip (or walk over...it's close by) to our NEW Bay High Athletic Field

* 7:30 PM - Rockets vs Firelands (No, we've never heard of them either, but who cares?)

* News Alert: as part of the Homecoming game festivities, the 1973 Cheerleaders,  Rockettes and Majorettes will be dressed in their original uniforms and out on the field performing at half time (just joking). Trained paramedics will be on hand to perform CPR.

 * 8:00 PM  - Closing - Post game (or during) get-together at the Ironwood Cafe, 688 Dover Center Road, Westlake.

(Just over the Bay tracks) If you can't make Margaux's gig, or the game, then you absolutely must show up for the post-game festivities!

Saturday, September 20th - on your own activities

* 9-10 AM - Hugely informal Golf Outing at Sweetbriar (750Jaycox Rd, Avon Lake). Guys e-mail Ken Dechert, kendech@mchsi.com
Dolls e-mail Margaux Quayle Hamilton, margaux42@sbcglobal.net if interested.  We'll
form foursomes and head out on a first come, first serve basis. Organize your own group
or we'll match you up.  We will need a final headcount by August 15th.

* 11 AM - walk-thru tour of our high school. Meet at the main/front entrance of the school.
Tour leaders are Becky Obey and Shelley Wysong, who will tell fascinating stories of yesteryear including how they received all their after-school detentions and suspensions.
E-mail kimflash@sbcglobal.net if interested, so she can nail down a general headcount.

* 6:00 PM - 12:01 AM...and now for the Main Event...Kim (Johnson) Flash and her husband, Mark, (in an obvious moment of temporary insanity) have invited our entire class
to a backyard bash at their new home. Wow, so how cool will that be?! Here's the deal:

    * Kim and Mark live at 563 Bradley Road in Bay (corner of Ashton Lane and Bradley)
    * Kim and Mark will be visiting relatives in Toledo and won't be home. They agreed to leave the back light on and the key under the front door for us....OK, just kidding
    * The game plan for now is to do an informal self serve dinner with a keg, wine, mixed
drinks, soda and set-ups (feel free to BYOB if you're on a Red Bull or Tequila only diet)
    * The main feature...Nirvana will be making an appearance. Yep, you got it.
As you may or may not remember, Nirvana is our infamous high school band comprised
of Hody Peters, Kenny Kresge, Mark Wysong, Jim Heinke, and Billy Bush. They will be playing their hits and may even allow Nirvana-Wannabes to grab the microphone and
sing backup. OH MY, WILL THIS BE ENTERTAINING OR WHAT!? This is bigger than
Elvis coming back from the dead. The guys will be wearing earplugs and have their pacemakers fully charged for their own safety and well-being.
    * If possible, bring lawn chairs, blankets and your flannel pajamas to enjoy the creek-side bonfire and dessert. When Nirvana smashes their guitars at the end of the concert, we
will pitch them in the bonfire for added effect.
    * Bring new/old pics, yearbooks, arrest warrants, and Vince O'Donnell stories to share.
    * Cost for the evening: a whopping $20 per person; however, if you can't make
the dinner from 6:30-8 pm, just roll by any time...remember, it's drop-in casual.

IT'S GOING TO BE ONE FOR THE

MEMORY BOOKS!

Our 35th Reunion will be held on Bay High School's Homecoming weekend; September 19th & 20th 2008.  Based on the feedback we received from the 30th (see results below), this will be a more casual and affordable approach to the reunion.  It was clear from your opinions that the "laid-back casual" Friday event was the most popular aspect of the 30th reunion, so our 35th is going to be full of those kind of opportunitiesWho says we don't listen to you?
